Mikey Lewis is the biggest name to be sweating the Super League disciplinary verdict later today, after a number of incidents in Hull KR’s defeat to Warrington Wolves.
The Robins half-back had an off-day at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, and that led to some “petulant” actions that could result in him being banned for the Hull derby.
A headbutt was missed by the on-field officials, but Lewis made contact with Wire’s Adam Holroyd, and could well be charged with that and for the late hit on Ewan Irwin that saw him sin-binned in the game.
The former Man of Steel is currently on two disciplinary points, and would need a Grade C charge or higher to be suspended for the Hull derby. With him potentially being charged twice, one of those would need to be Grade B or higher to result in a ban. Holroyd himself could also be charged this week, after a high shot on Noah Booth.
Going back to the start of the weekend, Bradford Bulls hooker Andy Ackers was penalised for a tip tackle on Mike McMeeken, whilst teammate Ethan Ryan was sin-binned for dangerous contact in the air with Josh Rourke.
Wigan youngsters Kian McDermott and Shea O’Connor could be on the naughty step for high contact on Tanguy Zenon, which forced him to fail a HIA, and for being sin-binned due to starting a coming-together between the Warriors and Huddersfield, respectively.
With no incidents of real note in Hull FC v Leigh or Toulouse v York, we move to Castleford v Leeds, which took place on Sunday. After head injuries to Danny Levi and Chris Hankinson, the defeated Rhinos will be hoping that James McDonnell is free to play against Bradford next week. The England hopeful hit Tom Weaver late in the build-up to Jason Qareqare’s disallowed try. The penalty would prove pivotal, as Tigers would eventually take a two-point win over Leeds.
