The Super League disciplinary verdict is in, and Mikey Lewis has been suspended for four matches after two separate incidents in Hull KR’s recent defeat to Warrington Wolves.
Lewis was sin-binned late in the game for a late hit on Wire’s Ewan Irwin, and that has seen him cop a Grade C charge worth five penalty points.
That charge alone would have seen him miss the Hull derby this week, but a separate Grade E charge for a headbutt on Adam Holroyd, worth 18 penalty points, adds another three matches to that initial suspension, meaning he will now be out until the mid-week fixture against Warrington on August 18.
The head butt was missed by the on-field officials, but went viral on social media, and it even made it’s way to the Australian rugby league circles.
Lewis is one of three men banned this week, and yet again we have another player suspended for making contact with an opponent who is or may be injured.
That ban has gone to Taane Milne, who will miss Huddersfield’s next three games after an incident in their defeat to Wigan Warriors.
Also banned from that game is Wigan prop Kian McDermott, who has been charged with a Grade D head contact. The incident caused Huddersfield’s Tanguy Zenon to fail a HIA, meaning three extra penalty points are added to the initial 12. He will miss two matches and has received a fine.
Players from Leeds Rhinos, Wakefield Trinity and Bradford Bulls have all been charged. James McDonnell (Grade B late contact on passer), Caleb Hamlin-Uele (Grade A late contact on passer) and Jack Ormondroyd (Grade B dangerous contact) have all picked up penalty points but are free to play in Round 20.
Catalans pair Josh Allen and Solomona Faataape have also been hit with charges, as has York hooker Tom Inman.

Don’t think that the alleged headbutt was one. I was watching the match And I noticed it at the time, but when the opponent does not complain to the referee or start rolling around on the pitch, then no contact was made. Was there intent? That is a different question.
The big thing is that Mikey Lewis needs to GROW UP! You are supposed to be one of the best in the sport, but so often he fails to show it. What is he trying to prove, because he already has succeeded in getting the dumb ****** award.
What a waste of his talent………………..
