Catalans Dragons have confirmed Joe Chan will leave the club at the end of the 2022 season.
The young Dragons’ forward, who turned 20 last month, will join the Melbourne Storm in the NRL.
He came through the club development system and made his Super League debut last year. He since made 16 appearances under the Dragons’ jersey, scoring 5 tries.
He’s had an impressive start to the season so far, scoring four tries in seven Super League games in 2022.
Chan said he couldn’t pass up the chance of joining Melbourne, stating: “I will always call Catalans Dragons my home and a family of mine.
“I had an opportunity to play for another elite club. I’ll will continue to do my best for the club and hopefully winning a title by the years end. I’m forever grateful to Bernard Guasch, his family and the club.”
Steve McNamara, the Catalans Dragons boss was understanding of Chan’s reasons for leaving, stating: “Whilst being disappointed to see Joe leave we also recognize the opportunity that he has and wish him well.
“He is a good young man and player and has shown great respect to our club throughout this situation.
“We look forward to Joe playing very well for the rest of the season and trying to help the club achieve success.”
