Melbourne Storm prop drops Super League move hint

Tepai Moeroa Super League

Melbourne Storm prop Tepai Moeroa insists he is open to heading to Super League after his side’s NRL Grand Final.

Moeroa was a starter at second-row or loose-forward for a number of years under Brad Arthur at Parramatta Eels, but after half a season at Melbourne Storm, he was dropped to reserve-grade.

He has then spent his time switching between NRL and the NSW Cup this year, making four appearances for the first team in their run to the NRL Grand Final. He has also represented the Cook Islands in a game against Australia.

For the reserve-grade side, he was key in their run to the Grand Final before losing to Newtown Jets.

In 2020, he briefly moved to rugby union, signing with NSW Warratahs, where Roosters man Joseph Sua’ali’i will be plying his trade in 2025.

Now, it seems that he may make another big change in his career.

Melbourne Storm prop set for Super League move?

Speaking to TBR Rugby League, Moeroa said: “I think the UK Super League provides a new challenge. I have ex-teammates there who really enjoy the football and the opportunity to live in the UK.

“I have a lot of desire still left in me and hunger for the game. A few small injuries this year kept me sidelined for longer than we all thought.

“But I’m fresh and fit and looking forward to being part of the Storm finals and finish the year with a Grand Final win and then some test match football.”

At 29, he has a good few years left in him, and will surely be a target for sides such as Leeds Rhinos, looking to make improvements to their pack – especially since Rhyse Martin will be elsewhere next year.
