Scans today have revealed that Huddersfield winger Jermaine McGillvary scored the Giants winning try against Wakefield on Friday despite having a torn quad.
The England international suffered the injury early in the game but played on, collecting Danny Brough’s kick in the final 10 minutes to secure his sides 24-16 win.
It was revealed today that the injury is expected to keep Super League’s top try-scorer out for up to six weeks.
“I did it about 10 minutes in,” McGillvary explained.
“It was pretty painful but there was no-one on the bench and I thought I could still do a job rather than putting someone in a difficult position on the wing.
“I’m one of the senior players so I need to set a good example, especially playing outside some young lads. I didn’t want to complain too much and whinge.”
