‘We really feel it’ – Tyrone May names the best Hull KR signing

Hull KR man Tyrone May has revealed who he believes to be Hull KR ‘s best signing, ahead of their Grand Final clash against Wigan Warriors.

The Robins have had their greatest modern season in 2024, finishing second – just two points behind Wigan Warriors – and still have a chance of winning their first silverware since 1985.

The side have been unbelievable at times this year, but also showed the steel to see off Warrington Wolves in the semi-final, perhaps the moment that best showed off their title credentials.

There’s one more hurdle for them, facing the Warriors at Old Trafford – a side that have, in the past year, won three major finals and also taken home the League Leaders’ Shield.

Tyrone May reveals Hull KR ‘s best signing

Speaking pre-game last week, half Tyrone May explained how much of an impact head coach Willie Peters has had on the side.

He said: “I think he’s been a huge influence on me personally. He knows I’m a bit different so he does treat me a little bit differently but he does understand that when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, I’ll rip in.

“I think what he’s done for the club is huge. I think we’re talking about signings and that and I think he’s been probably the top signing for the club so far.

“He’s just installed that mentality throughout the playing group and I think he’s put a lot of ownership on me and the spine just to take over a little bit.

“As a player, it’s made me relish that responsibility and being able to take control of a team. I think that trust he has in me and I think other players, we really feel it and he’s just the bloke you want to play for.”

Yet to win a trophy in his career, Peters is in as good a position as ever to change that record now as head coach of the Robins.
