Matt Prior has honest say on Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar

Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar has earned a lot of praise for the way in which he has transformed the West Yorkshire club from relegation candidates to silverware hunters.

And, one of those that cannot stop singing his praises is Australian forward Matt Prior, who recently signed a new deal and who believes there are similarities between Agar and former boss and NRL Grand Final veteran Wayne Bennett.

“I do see similarities between Rich and Wayne Bennett, we’ve got a good mix between youth and older blokes – there’s a lot of young talent and a lot of senior players to guide them through,” Prior said.

“I think Rich has done a fantastic job for us and he’s always on the money with our preparation and review.

“He probably doesn’t get the recognition for it but I think if we win people will stand up and take notice.”

Prior knows that the semi-final against St Helens on Friday night will be extremely difficult.

“They’re the team to beat, the in-form team.

“They don’t make many mistakes; they’ve got Alex Walmsley and their halves are class, but we’ve been preparing well all week.

“I’m so glad I signed on because we’re building something special.”
