Matt Peet warns against “overreaction” after Leeds Rhinos defeat

Challenge Cup holders Wigan Warriors were stunned by Leeds Rhinos last week despite the fact the Rhinos were down to 12 men for more than half a game.

This week Wigan have a perfect chance to right those wrongs as they go to Headingley in the cup.

After the defeat, Matt Peet has said that the week’s preparations have been good:

“This week has been good. It was a tough defeat to take but we always try to prepare in the same way to keep things the same.”

He is also expecting a great occasion on Saturday:

“It is a great opportunity and a fantastic tie between two big clubs. There is a fantastic occasion at the end of this journey in Wembley and this is the reason we all do our jobs.”

He is also well aware of the expectations on his team:

“We are Wigan Warriors. We all know the expectations at this club and we are excited to perform.”

He has also called for there to be no overreaction to the defeat to the Rhinos:

“Last week was harsh, but as a coach I’ve been looking at how I can handle and communicate differently during and after games.

“If you don’t overreact, you can keep moving forwards -that’s the beauty of the role.”
