Wigan Warriors take a trip to Huddersfield Giants on Friday, a place where they were beaten last season though it mattered little when the two met at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.

In the Challenge Cup Final, Huddersfield were a minute away from winning the Cup until Wifan nicked it at the end through a Liam Marshall try.

As they prepare for the game, the Warriors coach Matt Peet has said that the Giants are a team that are “in the mix now.”

He said:

“I think they’re a team that has to be in the mix now. They’ve got the coach they want and the squad they want. They have to be in that group of teams that compete, like ourselves.”

He went on to describe the clash as one of “the toughest games of the year.”

“It’s up there with the toughest games of the year to play at Huddersfield. Very consistent, strength in depth. There’s a lot to admire about Huddersfield and it’ll take the best of us at the weekend.”

Peet also gave his assessment of the season so far:

“We’ve played four very different games. I don’t think the games are comparative. I wish we would have nailed all four, but we haven’t. That’s the season I guess and that’s coaching.”

This came as he opened up on his “frustration” at losing to Catalans Dragons:

“The first word that sprung to mind was frustration. Combination of things meant we didn’t play the way we wanted to. But we move on quickly.”
