Matt Peet gives update on Joe Shorrocks situation

It will have been a tough week of reflection for Wigan Warriors after they lost for the second time this season coming unstuck against Catalans Dragons last Thursday.

Speaking today, Matty Peet opened up on the defeat:

“The first word that sprung to mind was frustration. Combination of things meant we didn’t play the way we wanted to. But we move on quickly.”

This defeat of course begs the question, how should Wigan’s start to the season be reflected upon?

Peet had his say:

“Nothing has surprised me but it’s early days. The teams that finish at the top of the year will have less dips, there’s an interesting competition developing. We focus on ourselves and at the moment it’s about getting back to our best.”

In terms of reflecting, Wigan might be reflecting on the performances of Joe Shorrocks at Leigh Leopards.

He joined Leigh on a short term loan and has been brilliant for them including scoring in the win against St Helens.

There has been talk of him staying at Leigh longer with his former Wigan boss Adrian Lam keen on keeping him at Leigh Sports Village for a little while longer.

Peet gave an update on the Shorrocks situation:

“He’s not back yet, he’s in the right place and we’ll try and do more of that. I love the way he’s competing for Leigh, he’s handling himself really well.”
