Matt Peet has reflected on Wigan Warriors’ 34-16 loss to St Helens.
It is another defeat in a poor run of league results for the Warriors which has seen them claim just one win since the international break.
Speaking on Sky Sports he simply said: “They were very good. We weren’t great. We’re not playing well at the moment.
“Attack and defence fell short and Saints were very good.”
When asked why his side missed 27 tackles, he said: “First of all we gave ourselves a lot of defending to do. We didn’t turn the ball over well, our completion rate was very slow and then you get tired and that hurt us especially in the middle portion of the game.
“Saints’ bench was far too powerful for us today and they were worthy winners.”
He also denied claims that the Warriors are too focused on their attack:
“Not at all, if anything we’re looking at our defence first and we’ve conceded 30 odd points. More so we have focused on defence.
“We have a few troops to come back but ultimately we need to be much better in that middle portion of the game.”
When asked if he was confident he could turn things around, he said: “Yeah.
“We have to play better. We have to improve.”
