Matt Peet breaks silence on Bevan French future following brilliant Wigan Warriors win over Salford Red Devils

Wigan Warriors have a gem on their hands with Bevan French.

One of the most electric players in Super League, French has lit up the UK competition since his arrival onto the scene back in 2019.

However, with French out of contract at the end of the year, there are question marks over where his future may lie beyond 2022.

Rumours of a move to Super League rivals Hull FC will not go away, but Wigan head coach Matty Peet has revealed that French sees his long-term ambitions in the NRL and spoke about French alongside Jai Field.

“We’re lucky to have them as a competition and as a club but they are lucky to be here too in the Super League,” Peet said.

“We love Bevan and we’ve made it clear he wanted to stay.

“I speak regularly with Bevan about his future but we want our players to achieve their ambition but Bevan’s long-term ambition is in the NRL but as long as we want to keep him we want to give him to the platform.”

French was in fine form away at Salford Red Devils in their game tonight at the AJ Bell Stadium, with the Australian registering a fine hat-trick with some incredible finishes.

What’s with all this “breaks silence” that journalists seem to want to use all the time?
If a person is continually asked a question for several weeks and refuses to answer but then eventually answers that can be “breaks silence”. But not when its the first or second time the question has been asked
