Matt Parcell details his plans after leaving Hull KR
Speaking in a press conference this week, he explained that NRL was the only way he’d continue playing.
He said: “I think I’m quite good, I’m not bothered really.
“In Australia I don’t really have an interest in playing part-time or anything like that, so between now and when we head back in mid-January if something was to pop up I would consider it.
“I’ve already sort of declined a few things, I don’t feel like I need to play on. I feel if this is my last couple of games I’ll be completely happy. But if something pops up that suits me and suits our situation then I’d consider it I guess.”
Asked if he was definitely ruling out part-time play in Australia, he answered: “If I was going to do that, I might as well stay here for another year or two.”
He also said he was unlikely to go into coaching for now, saying: “It’s not something that at the moment I would like to transition into straight away. I feel like, just getting away from it for a bit.
“It’s been a big part of my life for a long time, so I think just getting away from it for a bit and if it finds a way back to you and an opportunity pops up then yeah, but it’s just about getting away and sort of finding out where you really want to, what you want to do with the next stage of your life I guess.”
He has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Queensland, and said he would likely go into work that involves this.
