Over the weekend we saw Hull KR and Leigh Leopards defeat Wigan Warriors and St Helens at the homes of Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves in two great Challenge Cup semi-finals.
The Leigh Leopards battled back from 6-0 against St Helens to claim a 12-10 win with tries from Oliver Holmes and Zak Hardaker that gives them a huge chance at winning the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1971.
Meanwhile, Hull KR also delivered their fans a famous day as Brad Schneider nailed a golden point drop goal to send them to Wembley at the expense of Wigan.
Both games were struck by controversy. Sione Mata’utia was sin binned for a late hit on Ben Reynolds that gave Reynolds the chance to nail the two points which would determine the outcome in the end.
There were also questions raised about John Asiata’s tackle on Agnatius Paasi as well.
As for Wigan and Hull KR, they had Joe Shorrocks sent off in a huge talking point.
There was also a tackle from Bevan French and Abbis Miski that raised questions.
The match review panel have met and given out their charges for this weekend’s semi-final action.
Three players have been banned in the shape of Sione Mata’utia, Edwin Ipape and Joe Shorrocks.
Matt Parcell has also been cautioned.
From the 1895 Cup semi-finals, Rob Butler has been charged with biting.
He faces a mammoth ban following this weekend’s action and has been referred to a tribunal.
There are no fines handed out this week.
Fortunately, it also means that no player will miss the Challenge Cup Final due to a suspension incurred in the semi-finals.
The likes of John Asiata and Abbas Miski have avoided a ban.

Edwin Ipape (Leigh Leopards) – Grade B Strikes – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Joe Shorrocks (Wigan Warriors) – Grade C High Tackle – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Rob Butler* (London Broncos) – Grade F Biting – Refer to Tribunal
