Martin suffers bleed on brain

Scans have shown North Queensland Cowboys playmaker Te Maire Martin to have a small bleed on the brain.

The 23-year-old had complained of severe headaches to club staff but it’s unknown when or where the injury was sustained.

Martin has played in all seven of the Cowboys NRL games this season, replacing the sacked Ben Barba in the full-back position.

However, he will now sit out Friday’s match against the Titans and has been ruled out indefinitely following the results of the scan.

“Club medical staff are continuing to investigate the cause of the bleeding, although it is not yet clear whether it is football related,” a club statement read.

“Martin continues to rest at home and is scheduled to meet with a Townsville-based specialist later this week.”
