Mark Aston says Odsal is “a depressing place”

Yesterday Bradford Bulls continued their strong start to the 2023 Championship season by defeating Sheffield Eagles at home.

Tom Holmes scored twice including a lovely finish on the end of a neat set play from the Bulls which their Twitter page described as “sexy.”

Here is the try in question:

After the game though Sheffield Eagles Director of Rugby Mark Aston was less than pleased with his side describing them as “shabby” on the Eagles YouTube channel:

“We looked shabby, we looked clueless, we just looked like a team of individuals at the end.

“Somebody had to do something off their own back and that isn’t what we stand for and what we want to be known for. We need to play a certain way that works for us and when we do, we’re a decent team. There’s no doubt.

“We got a reality check today, they wanted it more than us.”

He also said that Odsal was a depressing place to come:

“It’s always a depressing place to come here isn’t is, as you can see with the surroundings, and it certainly depressed me.”

After that result Bradford Bulls find themselves fourth in the Betfred Championship table just behind Sheffield Eagles on points difference.

The two have only lost twice this season.

The RFU have Twickenham, and The RFL bought a hole in the ground, Odsal? And when it comes to a new RFL Chief, we promote within?
