Mark Applegarth underlines determination to get Wakefield out of trouble

Wakefield Trinity have started the season with six defeats which could be a heavy burden for a young coach like Mark Applegarth.

However, when asked asked if he still has the appetite to keep fighting despite with Wakefield at the bottom, he said:

“Course I have, it’s part of coaching. Life would be boring if everything went your way all the time.

“Rain or shine I’ll be here giving it 100% and you know I’m like a pig in s**t with it. It’s tough, it stings but that’s how you learn a lot about yourself I think. You’ve got to put yourself out there and just plough through it but we’ll come good.

“You’ve got to have self belief first and foremost and I’ve got that, we’ll come good.”

He also confirmed again that the club are looking for new recruits to ease their injury woes:

“We’re always on the lookout for players coming in if they’re going to add value so there’s some reinforcements just around the corner, so as tough as it feels now we’ve got some very experienced players coming back in the next few weeks.”

He also spoke on Huddersfield Giants loanee Sam Hewitt: “I think it was signed on a week by week basis so depending on how teams are looking and how he’s fit in, which has been excellent, then you try to make it a bit more permanent from there.

“We’d be keen to keep hold of him and hopefully Huddersfield will allow that and we appreciate them letting us have him.”
