Mark Applegarth makes huge Luke Gale decision

One of the bigger stories we have seen this season has centred around Luke Gale.

It was a huge story when the former Man of Steel and Leeds Rhinos skipper joined newly promoted Championship club Keighley Cougars but an even bigger story when he left for Wakefield Trinity to try and steer them away from relegation. Though Gale has yet to play for his new club.

He missed the first game against Warrington Wolves with Mark Applegarth saying that he needed the extra days to get ready for his debut.

However, it was later revealed that Gale has a groin injury. Though he could have made his debut against former club Hull FC, but Applegarth wanted to reward Morgan Smith for his performance against Warrington.

Last week he was cup tied against Leigh Leopards.

Now though he is set to debut against Catalans Dragons after being named in the 21-man squad for the clash in France.

Jack Croft, whose return to the club was announced yesterday, could also feature after being named in the squad.

Max Jowitt has also been named in the squad for the first time since picking up an injury in Round One against the Dragons – the only time Wakefield have scored more than three tries this season.
