Mark Applegarth makes big David Fifita decision

Day Two of the Magic Weekend kickstarts with a clash between two teams many expected to be meeting in a relegation four pointer in Newcastle United’s St James’ Park.

This is of course the clash between Leigh Leopards and Wakefield Trinity.

Leigh are in red hot form and are well in the mix where the play-offs are concerned.

They even defeated league leaders Warrington Wolves last week and thus go into this game as heavy favourites.

Meanwhile, Wakefield are yet to win a game and are still struggling for points in attack.

That will need to change if they are to beat a Leigh side who have already beaten them comfortably twice this season.

The team news is now in ahead of this clash and the big news is that David Fifita is in line to make his debut wearing the number 40 jersey.

He starts on the bench.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants loanee Sam Hewitt starts his second spell at the club by starting in the backrow.

There is of course no Luke Gale with the halfback out with a groin injury. They could do with him with Will Dagger forced to start in the halves.

As for Leigh, they are as strong as you would expect and only missing two of their first 13 squad numbers in Joe Wardle and Jack Hughes.
