Marc Sneyd sends hilarious social media post after Salford Red Devils uncertainty

Marc Sneyd has taken to social media to playfully poke fun at Salford Red Devils’ financial situation.

Sneyd is one of those who has been heavily linked away from Salford over the off-season, with Salford being directed to part with players by the RFL just a few weeks ago. The instruction came after the Red Devils received an advance in their central funding at the back end of last season.

Salford were placed under measures by the governing body before a deep dive on their finances resulted in the club being told to shed £800,000 from their overheads. With player sales being the easiest and quickest way to make such a saving, the expectation was that Salford could be set for a firesale.

As such, a raft of their senior squad have been linked away over the last few weeks, with the likes of Sneyd, Deon Cross, Kallum Watkins, Joe Shorrocks and Nene Macdonald being linked to other clubs across the competition.

However, clubs were informed last week of Salford’s optimism regarding a takeover and while nothing has been confirmed since, the hope is that the Red Devils can succeed in securing their financial future.

It seems the Salford squad are still in good spirits though and Sneyd’s post on Instagram earlier today was certainly on the lighter side. Posting a picture of himself sat alone in the stands at the Salford Community Stadium in full kit, Sneyd wrote: “@salfordreddevilsrlfc squad photo 2025.”

A number of Salford Red Devils players have commented on the photo, too. Tim Lafai said: “That’s our whole cap space in that photo”.

Ryan Brierley joked: “Good luck pal catch up for a brew soon”. Kai Morgan also commented: “Hi mate good luck thanks for everything”.

Esan Marsters, Loghan Lewis and Jayden Nikorima all responded with crying laughing emojis, as did former Salford men Cade Cust, Amir Bourouh and Josh Griffin.

Meanwhile Salford announced the addition of Wigan Warriors man Tiaki Chan on loan this afternoon.
