Manly put clause in Cust’s Wigan contract

Wigan Warriors announced the signing of Cade Cust from the Manly Sea Eagles this morning on a two-year deal.

But, in the statement given by the Warriors announcing his signing, it was revealed that Manly head coach Des Hasler has a re-sign contract clause if Cust wants to return to the NRL.

“Cade is a wonderful young man who developed into a fine NRL player at the Sea Eagles after coming through our successful U20s team,’’ said Hasler.

“He has worked hard on his game in recent seasons and his ability to cover positions in the halves and hooker is very valuable.

“As part of the release agreement, the Sea Eagles will hold an option to re-contract Cade should he decide to return to the NRL.

“We wish Cade well in the next exciting chapter of his Rugby League career.”

Cust becomes Wigan’s fourth announced signing following Patrick Mago, Kaide Ellis and Abbas Miski with centre Iain Thornley set to be the next through the doors at the DW Stadium.

It’s a new era for the Warriors after parting ways with former head coach Adrian Lam, with new boss Matty Peet determined to kick on from the disappointment of 2021.
