Manly coach to be offered $3 million deal

Manly are set to offer head coach Des Hasler a lucrative $3 million deal that will see him continue his reign at the Sea Eagles until the end of the 2024 season.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the club are keen to retain his signature and have tabled an offer after Manly chief Stephen Humphreys reportedly met with Hasler’s manager, George Mimis.

The two-time premiership winning coach had a very successful first stint with the club, winning his two premierships between 2004 and 2011. After a messy spell with the Canterbury Bulldogs, Hasler returned to his former club in October 2018.

Since then, he has taken the Sea Eagles from 15th to the top eight and they are one now of the favourites to win the competition in 2020.

During Hasler’s nine years at the club, Manly have only twice failed to improve on their ladder position from the year before.

The 59-year-old will look to improve on last year’s sixth place finish to give the Sea Eagles a better chance come the finals at the end of this season.
