Revealed: Latest Man of Steel leaderboard

The Man of Steel weekly points announcement has been a love in for both George Williams and Jordan Abdull so far this season, however round eight has seen neither player pick up a single point.

Both players have been in incredible form as they guide their respective teams to successful starts to the season and that saw Abdull earn max points in each of his first three starts before injury prevented him from making it four games in a row.

During that period Warrington’s playmaker George Williams kicked into form and overtook the Rovers’ number seven but the pair developed a large lead on the trailing pack.

Both men were on the winning side in Rivals Round and both featured prominently, Abdull grabbing an assist and even winning Man of the Match, whilst Williams scored a try as Warrignton remained unbeaten and won in France over Catalans.

Despite that neither man tallied a point meaning the competition has got a little bit closer overall.

Thursday’s game saw Castleford face Wakefield in what was described as a “four-pointer” by Andy Last and it was his hooker that took the game by the scruff of the neck and that try-scoring performance earned Paul McShane three points. Greg Eden bagged a brace of tries and a brace of points whilst Nathan Massey picked up one.

Onto the Hull derby and Ryan Hall scored three tries and three points for his incredible 250 metre performance whilst Abdull’s half-back partner Mikey Lewis registered two points. He bagged a try as well as a hattrick of assists whilst centre Tom Opacic picked up the sole remaining point.

The Good Friday clash between Wigan and St Helens saw Wigan’s makeshift halves pairing of Harry Smith (three points) and Joe Shorrocks (two points) clean up, with centre Toby King earning one for his try that helped seal the win.

Salford and Leigh battled it out for a second time this season in a close 22-20 win for the Red Devils. Chris Atkin picked up three points, Edwin Ipape two and Shane Wright one.

Warrington’s unbeaten run continued and full-back Matt Dufty entered the top five in the Man of Steel overall race as he bagged three points. Catalans’ Mike McMeeken scored two whilst former Dragon Sam Kasiano got the last point.

Leeds vs Huddersfield rounded off Rivals Round on Sunday and it was the winning try scorer Cameron Smith who bagged three, his winger Nene MacDonald who scored two whilst Huddersfield’s playmaker Tui Lolohea scored one.
