Main contender for the Salford job revealed after offers from UK and Australia

Sky Sports pundit Jenna Brooks has further fuelled the fire that it will be Paul Rowley that takes over at Salford ahead of Wigan Warriors’ crunch clash with Leeds Rhinos in the play-offs tonight.

The platform had already been set when the Red Devils announced that they had signed Ryan Brierley over the weekend, making it a homecoming for the playmaker, but the club also sent out a rather bizarre tweet.

“Reunited again” was the caption with a photo of Brierley embracing former head coach Paul Rowley.

The two had formed a great bond at Leigh and now it appears as though the duo could be set for a remarkable Super League renaissance, with Rowley already at the AJ Bell Stadium in a head of rugby-type role.

Richard Marshall parted ways with the club earlier on today after just one season in charge, with Salford not commenting any further.

The Red Devils finished second bottom to relegated Leigh, with just seven wins from 22 games.
