Luke Gale’s continued absence explained

One of the bigger stories we have seen this season has centred around Luke Gale.

It was a huge story when the former Man of Steel and Leeds Rhinos skipper joined newly promoted Championship club Keighley Cougars but an even bigger story when he left for Wakefield Trinity to try and steer them away from relegation. Though Gale has yet to play for his new club.

He missed the first game against Warrington Wolves with Mark Applegarth saying that he needed the extra days to get ready for his debut.

However, it was later revealed that Gale has a groin injury. Though he could have made his debut against former club Hull FC, but Applegarth wanted to reward Morgan Smith for his performance against Warrington.

He was then cup tied against Leigh Leopards in the Challenge Cup before being named in the squad for the trip to Catalans Dragons only to not feature.

Then ahead of their Magic Weekend clash he wasn’t even included in the squad.

Jenna Brooks of Sky Sports has now confirmed that Gale’s absence continues to be because of his struggles with a groin injury.

He could make his debut next week against former club Leeds Rhinos next week.
