When Luke Gale left Leeds Rhinos at the end of 2021, it was perhaps one of the most surprising transfers in recent seasons.
Having won the Challenge Cup Final in 2020 with Leeds, Gale was stripped of the captaincy in 2021 and exited through the door months later.
A move to Hull FC came about on a one-year deal after Marc Sneyd had rejoined old club Salford Red Devils on a three-year contract.
But, Gale’s agent, Craig Harrison of Show Me The Money UK, believes Gale’s role at Leeds was vital for the club in developing the next generation of stars.
“He should have stayed, it should have been made to work,” Harrison said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.
“He was such a big personality amongst those young lads and I think their results, when Gale was at halfback, they won 90% of games when he was on the field.”
Harrison also believes that the Rhinos should not have celebrated a 26-0 home drubbing by St Helens earlier on in the season as ‘getting better’.
“There’s definitely something not right, there’s a clunkiness.
“To get beat 26-0 and be happy, this is how far Leeds have come now – they are happy that they’ve put effort in.
“To get nilled at home should be shocking, but they’ve got good players there.”
