Luke Gale WILL NOT debut for Wakefield this week

Luke Gale will again not feature this weekend.

The former Man of Steel during his time at Castleford Tigers and a former Leeds Rhinos skipper and Challenge Cup Final hero, the halfback left Hull FC for Keighley Cougars at the end of last season but a third of the way into the season he left to try and save Wakefield Trinity from relegation.

The halfback has yet to play however and he will continue to wait for a debut with Leigh Leopards waiting to take on Trinity at the Magic Weekend.

Gale is dealing with a groin injury.

This was confirmed by Mark Applegarth on BBC Radio Leeds.

“Luke won’t be in the 21-man squad. He’s nursing a bit of a groin injury but we’re hoping it’s not too bad,” Applegarth said.

“Luke’s been helping on the coaching side with me and behind the scenes with the previous assistant coach moving on.

“He’s been doing his rehab and then helping out with that, helping the pivots and hopefully it’s not too long.”
