London sign Grand Final winner

London Broncos have completed the signing of Josh Walters from Featherstone Rovers.

The 24-year-old, who is often remembered for scoring the winning try for Leeds Rhinos in the 2015 Super League Grand Final, has signed a two-year deal with the capital club.

Born in Guildford, Walters has spent much of his career at Featherstone on dual-registration but completed a permanent move to Post Office Road prior to this season.

The second-rower was one of the West Yorkshire club’s standout performers this season as they went within 80 minutes of a place in Super League.

Walters told the Broncos’ website: “I am really thankful to have had the opportunity to represent Featherstone Rovers this season.

“I am massively proud of what we achieved as a group and grateful that’s it’s landed me the opportunity to sign for the London Broncos.

“Now I am very much looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season and having a big 2020 and beyond and hopefully getting the club back to where it belongs in Super League.”

Speaking on the signature of Walters, London head coach Danny Ward said: “It’s great to have Josh on board. He’s a Grand Final winner who brings a lot of SL experience with him.

“He’s been a big part of Featherstone’s fantastic season this year and we are looking forward to working with him.”
