London Broncos sign versatile international back

London Broncos

London Broncos have made another key signing ahead of the 2025 campaign with an international back arriving at the club.

The capital side have confirmed the signing of Italian international Luke Polselli with the 26-year-old arriving with almost 100 games of experience in the Queensland and New South Wales Cup competitions.

Polselli is adept at centre, half-back or full-back making him an incredibly versatile asset for head coach Mike Eccles to use. The Italian international also knows where the try line is having scored seven tries in 21 games for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in 2024.

Prior to playing for the Falcons, Polselli has played for the Newtown Jets and Mackay Cutters, with his debut season at Newtown seeing him help the club to the title.

Polselli is no stranger to English shores having played in all three of Italy’s games at the 2022 Rugby League World Cup with the Broncos’ new signing getting on the scoresheet in the win over Scotland. He played all three of those matches as full-back.

London Broncos confirmed the signing of Polselli with a statement on their socials, confirming that the 26-year-old will be available for selection in this weekend’s Challenge Cup clash against Goole Vikings – pending his visa.

Speaking on the move, Polselli said: “I’ve heard a lot about this club and I’m really excited to get down there and start ripping in with the lads.

“I like where the club is heading and I’d love to be part of it this season.”

Another of the overseas signings that London have made this year is also in the spine with Connor O’Beirne arriving to play in the halves as the Broncos look to replace the stars that they lost following their relegation from Super League.

Head coach Mike Eccles had recently teased “positive news” as the club looks to secure funding to secure their future, however, signing an overseas player could be a sign that a deal is close given the financial backing it would take to recruit Polselli.

Reports from The Sun over the weekend claimed that Leeds Rhinos CEO Gary Hetherington is involved in brokering a deal that will see NRL club Brisbane Broncos buy part of London, meaning that rugby league in the capital could be set for major investment.

That report and the news of Poselli’s signing have made for a very good couple of days for Broncos fans.
