London Broncos sign New Zealand centre

New Zealand born centre Paulos Latu has returned to the London Broncos ahead of the 2022 Betfred Championship season with a point to prove.

The player, popular amongst his teammates at the Broncos, feels he has much more to show in a London shirt and being given the opportunity by Head Coach Jermaine Coleman to play in his correct position of Centre will see him flourish this time around.

Latu said “I’m extremely grateful to be given this opportunity by the Club, obviously I was not able to secure a spot the first time I was here and that left me feeling I have some unfinished business so I am excited and looking forward to working hard and representing this great Club again.”

Paulos has recently been playing for our neighbours the London Skolars and before that had a spell at Limoux in the French Elite 1 competition where he scored 10 tries in 12 games in the centre position. It was with Skolars however where Latu got his mojo back and he arrives back at Rosslyn Park with the desire to bring plenty to the team.

He added “Going to the Skolars was a blessing in disguise for me, I got to start enjoying my footy again, sometimes where you’re playing at competitive levels you forget to slow down and enjoy the journey, and that is where I found myself.”

“At Skolars I was given the opportunity to play in the centres where I am most comfortable playing and that was a bonus for me. I hope I can bring an impact on and off the field with the experience I’ve gained in the game.”

Speaking on the signing of Latu the Broncos Coach Jermaine Coleman hopes that the size of the player will cause problems for defences around the Championship next year.

“Paulos is a big body and a real handful with ball in hand. His core skills and handling are fantastic and with a full year under his belt I think he will have a big impact on the team.”

“I feel he has a score to settle at the Broncos and the fans didn’t get to see the best of him last time around as he was being played out of position. On the edge, in his natural position, I think supporters will be excited about what they see.”
