London Broncos sign Australian hooker

London Broncos have signed Australian hooker Calum Gahan.

Gahan, who is due into the UK next week, has been playing in the second tier of Australia with the Norths Devils – the side who current Leigh Centurions star Nene MacDonald had been playing for.

The Broncos’ head coch Jermaine Coleman said that getting Gahan over to the UK happened quickly and the player is exactly what he has been looking for to compliment the current squad of players.

He said “He follows the trend of signings we have made with the fact he is young, eager and is of good character.

“Calum worked alongside a very good friend of mine in Australia and he has given me an excellent insight into Calum and what he can offer.”

“He likes to challenge his opponent and ask questions of their defence. He will add some competition to our current group of half backs and hookers.

“Calum is an exciting player and will certainly add punch to both our attack and defence.”

London take on the Halifax Panthers this weekend having failed to win their opening game of the season.

I hope he complEments the current squad, not just compliments them :=)

Seriously, does anyone know for how long he has signed?
There is a shortage of decent, available hookers in the NRL, so if the Broncs haven’t tied him up, I can see him going home in twelve months if he is any good.
