London Broncos release hooker after he fails to settle in the capital

London Broncos have agreed to release hooker Declan O’Donnell from his contract.

O’Donnell who signed from Workington Town in 2021 on a two-year contract asked to be released after struggling to settle in the capital. The club have agreed and the Ireland international has left the club with immediate effect.

Head Coach Jermaine Coleman said: “Declan has been open and honest with us about his situation and the need to move back up north and we agreed with his request to end his contract.

“He worked hard during his time with the club and we wish him the best for the future. This sometimes happens in sport and it creates an opportunity for someone else to step up.

“We’re happy with the direction of our squad and are looking forward to the season.”

The Broncos have been one of the most active sides in the transfer market recently with the likes of Sitiveni Mocoidreke, Paulos Latu and Ronny Palombo.

The capital club will have to contend with the likes of a rejuvenated Leigh Centurions, a battle-hardened Featherstone Rovers and the likes of Halifax Panthers, Bradford Bulls, Newcastle Thunder and York City Knights in a bid to earn promotion to the top flight.
