Will Lovell will captain London Broncos through their 2025 Championship campaign, the club has confirmed. Lovell has held the role since 2020 and he will skipper the Broncos once more this season as the club look to bounce back from their relegation from Super League.
The 31-year-old has spent most of his career with the Broncos, breaking through in the capital during the 2012 season before having a stint with London Skolars. He returned to the Broncos in 2017 and he has been there ever since. As such, he’ll be hoping to lead the club into a new era with investment and takeover talk ongoing.
Alex Walker has been named as vice captain, too, with the full-back taking on a senior role in the capital in what is his 10th season with the Broncos, with spells at Wakefield Trinity and Halifax Panthers coming in between.
“I am always very proud to represent the club,” Lovell told the club after being given the captaincy honours once more. “I look forward to the challenge ahead this year in the Championship.
“To be captain of this great club is a huge honour and I thank Mike for his trust once again.”
The Broncos have also confirmed that they have released Harry Stevens from his contract. It comes following a request from the player who was in the third and final year of his contract with the club. Stevens leaves London having made just one appearance back in 2023.
A statement on the Broncos’ website, read: “London Broncos can announce that Harry Stevens has been released from his contract following a request from the player.
“Harry had been with the club since the age of 15 and had progressed through the academy before signing a three-year contract in 2023.
“We would like to wish Harry all the very best in the future.”
