London Broncos confirm squad numbers with 4 Super League loanees in 20-man squad

London Borncos head coach Mike Eccles applauds

London Broncos have confirmed their squad for the Championship season with one of the smallest squads we’ve ever seen, including four Super League loanees.

At just 20 players, Broncos fans will just be excited that the announcement has finally been named by head coach and director of rugby Mike Eccles.

Out of those 20 players in the London Broncos squad, four of them are loanee signings from Super League sides.

Wigan duo Kian McDermott and Lukas Mason joined London on five-week deals and they will wear the 16 and 19 shirts respectively.

McDermott debuted for London in their 17-10 loss to Goole whereas Mason looks set to make his first appearance in the Championship this weekend.

The 19-year-old forwards will look to complement starting forwards Huw Worthington, Lewis Bienek, captain Will Lovell and Sadiq Adebiyi.

The Warrington duo of Jake Thewlis and Zac Bardsley-Rowe only joined the club on Monday on two-week loan deals.

Thewlis scored two tries in Warrington’s 44-4 Challenge Cup win over Whitehaven last weekend and will look to get some competitive game time outside of Warrington’s tried-and-tested backline.

Bardsley-Rowe spent part of last season on loan at Widnes Vikings, playing 10 times for them.

Thewlis will have the 24 shirt, with Bardsley-Rowe playing with 25 on his back.

For their new signings, Frenchman Christopher Hellec gets the number two shirt and the Italian international Luke Polselli gets the number six.

Hooker Curtis Davies takes the number nine shirt following a trial period.

Davies has been training with London since the start of pre-season and has vast experience with Halifax, Whitehaven, Workington, Newcastle and Dewsbury as well as a spell with Villeneuve in France.

Chris Ball, Aaron Small and Matt Ross all signed with London after completing successful trials, getting the numbers 21, 20 and 22 respectively.

London start their Championship season on Sunday 16th with a trip to Odsal as they play the Bradford Bulls in round 1.
