Liverpool rugby league team to enter Super League in 2022

A Liverpool rugby league team will be fast-tracked into Super League in 2022 under the guidance of former top-flight owner Marwan Koukash.

The racehorse billionaire has turned his attention to Merseyside with the hope of building a successful league side in one of the world’s most famous cities – with Jurgen Klopp as Director of Rugby and Steven Gerrard as Head of Communications.

The venture has already attracted the interest of wealthy local businessmen, with the team to play their home matches at Anfield.

To underline Koukash’s intent behind the project, a Liverpool RLFC Twitter page has already been created with a club badge and both home and away kits already designed – with the home kit set to feature gold to represent the football team’s title-winning success in 2020 and the away kit to incorporate water-splash marks as a tribute to the Liverpool docks area.

They will take the number of teams in Super League up to 13…you’re not actually going along with all this are you? APRIL FOOLS!
