Litten never in doubt over Robins’ ambitions

Hull Kingston Rovers hooker Jez Litten admitted he thought his side were “play-off contenders” back in pre-season, despite so many doubters.

The Robins currently sit fifth in the Super League and look on course for a first play-off berth since 2013 and this comes just a year after finishing bottom of the pile.

Many critics tipped the East Hull club for another year of struggle but Litten was one who kept the faith in the team and is unsurprised by their recent success.

He said, “I think people are only just starting to see it now but we started to see it pre-season. We knew with the players that we have, we knew if we played well, we could be right up there.

“I think it is starting to show now and a lot of people are recognising it and giving us the respect that we deserve by the performances that we are putting in.”

Next up for Hull KR is a very short trip across the city for when they face arch-rivals Hull FC at the MKM stadium.

Litten was formerly a Hull player before leaving back in 2019. Having his say on facing his former club, he said, “I think they have a few players back this week, apparently including Jake Connor.

“They are a different team when he plays but also they have some big guns back so we are going to have to keep a close eye on that and do our homework but we just need to worry about ourselves, our strengths and worry what we can do.”
