Liam Farrell believes Wigan will struggle to keep hold of stars

Liam Farrell is Wigan through and through – cut him open and he would bleed cherry and white.

However, the powerful back-rower – and also makeshift centre – believes that Wigan will find it difficult to keep hold of their young stars if they keep performing as well as they have been doing.

“It’s going to be difficult to keep hold of them all but if we can get some great two or three years out of them then it will be the start of a bright future ahead of all of them,” Farrell said.

One of those who has been impressing far and wide is London-born Kai Pearce-Paul.

“His skills and offload ability we all knew he had, but the thing I am surprised at is the consistency he has shown.

“For such a young lad to do what he does week in week out that shocked me a little bit.

“He is also a level-headed kid with a bright future, so it’s up to him where he can go.

“Physically he’s got all the potential and off the field he does all the right things.”

Farrell will take to the field against Leeds Rhinos on Thursday, aiming to get Wigan back to the Grand Final after less than a year since they were beaten in the dying seconds by arch-rivals St Helens.

“It probably still haunts me a little bit.

“It would be great to be back there and right some wrongs but it is in in the back of my mind – we will be looking to get there.”
