Leon Pryce reveals his dark horse for Championship promotion in 2022

Leon Pryce has been there and done that in rugby league, so when he talks you listen.

The former St Helens and Hull FC halfbacke won it all; from the Challenge Cup to the Grand Final, the former Bradford, St Helens, Hull FC and Catalans Dragons star scooped up both individual and team accolades galore.

The 40-year-old won a grand total of six Challenge Cups, six League Leaders’ Shields, three World Club Challenges and four Super League titles in a 19-year spell in the game.

Let’s face it, Pryce certainly knows his stuff.

So, when the halfback-turned-pundit revealed his dark horse on Premier Sports last night, there may have been a few eyebrows raised.

When asked if the York City Knights were dark horses by new host Emma Jones, Pryce replied: “They are ark horses, the players they’ve signed, the coaches they’ve got they should definitely be up there..

“They are investing heavily in trying to get to Super League – you can’t look past the likes of Jamie Ellis and Masi Matongo.”

York and Featherstone started their Championship seasons last Monday night with Rovers eventually overcoming the Knights 30-12.
