Leilua to the Bulldogs?

The Sydney Morning Herald are today reporting that the Canberra Raiders are looking to move on star centre Joseph Leilua in an effort to free up salary cap space.

The club have reportedly told the Samoan International that he is free to explore pastures new, even though he still has a year left on his contract.

Rumours have since emerged that the Bulldogs are now targeting Leilua for 2020.

The Western Sydney based club are reported to be preparing a $500,000 a year offer in a bid to lure the 27-year-old to Belmore.

“For me it’s about looking after my family, doing what’s best for them,” Leilua told the SMH.

“If they want us to leave, I’ll have to settle something there. I will probably miss the boys and the club the most, the fans, if I do leave.

“You have to understand it’s a business, how it works. You can’t keep the best team always together, that’s why Melbourne always let go of their players when they are performing at the club. That’s the way it goes.”
