Leigh Centurions prop forward Jamie Acton has been handed a seven-game ban for intentionally elbowing Batley’s Tom Hemingway.
With just two games of the regular season remaining, Acton will also miss most of their Super 8s campaign – whether that be in the Qualifiers or Championship Shield.
Acton was given a nine-match ban last season for an incident with Greg Bird after the latter was prone on the floor.
Talking about his latest ban, Leigh boss Kieron Purtill said: “Jamie needs to be smarter in certain areas of his game,”
“Giving away penalties and playing with 12 men is not great. Jamie has a lot of good attributes.
“But he has to make sure he channels all his energy on concentrating on being a good rugby player.”
