Leigh Leopards vs Hull KR team news with two stars as doubts

Kelepi Tanginoa of Hull KR is tackled by Brad Dwyer and Jack Hughes of Leigh

Leigh Leopards face Hull KR in a game with huge impact on both the race for the League Leaders’ Shield and the final play-off places.

The Leopards currently sit in fifth place in the Super League table, one point ahead of St Helens in sixth and Leeds Rhinos in seventh.

Therefore, the final two games of the regular season are absolutely crucial in their fight for a play-off spot, which looked like it would be an impossible goal to reach mid-season.

Meanwhile, the Robins are two points behind table-topping Wigan Warriors after defeat to them last week, and will be desperate to not fall further behind.

Umyla Hanley should be good to go tonight despite leaving the field last time round: Adrian Lam said this week: “Nothing too major to worry about.

“We could probably have put him back on the field the other night, but with the scoreline that it was, we felt that it was just a smart move to keep him off. So he’ll be totally fine.”

Edwin Ipape is a doubt due to a shoulder injury, but he’s one of the league’s very best in his position, so Lam will ni-doubt give him as long as possible before making a decision on whether he’ll be involved.

The Robins have made just one change to their 21-man squad, with Jai Whitbread out due to suspension, giving George King an opportunity in an undoubtedly frustrating season for the 29-year-old.

Sauaso Sue should be fit, after a wrist injury, which will certainly be a relief due to Whitbread being unavailable.

Niall Evalds has had calf concerns, so a late decision may have to be made on whether he can play after missing last week.

If it’s decided that he can’t play, that would probably mean Jack Broadbent returns at full-back again, in a position that he was forced to play for much of the early 2024 season when still at Castleford Tigers.
