Leigh Leopards face Warrington Wolves tonight with both sides relying on their closest rivals to falter in order for themselves to achieve their goals.
Warrington Wolves sit two points behind Hull KR and Wigan Warriors, but will certainly be hoping to take the League Leaders’ Shield.
Warrington faced those two sides a week apart around a month ago, and beat Wigan comfortably before losing to Hull KR.
Meanwhile, Leigh Leopards are just a point behind St Helens and Catalans Dragons, who occupy the final play-off places.
Leigh Leopards team news
Asked about Josh Charnley and Robbie Mulhern, both recently out through injury, Adrian Lam confirmed in a press conference – via Love Rugby League: “Those guys come into consideration,
“We are going to give Matty Moylan right up until kick-off to see whether he is good to go so, at the moment, it looks like he’s in a pretty good place with that so he is more than likely to play.
“He’s near on 100% but it’s just whether we risk that or not tomorrow. We’ll do what’s right for him, the club, the team and our season.
“It’s an incredibly important game for us and also for Warrington, they could potentially climb up into that top two and they’ll be looking at trying to do that with the games remaining but for us, if Matt can play, that will only advantage us so we’ll make that decision at the death.”
John Asiata is suspended for this game, however, so it’s not all good news for the Leopards.
Warrington Wolves team news
James Harrison has dropped out of the side due to a lower-leg injury, but Lachlan Fitzgibbon steps back into the side after a shoulder injury which has kept him out since the start of July.
Meanwhile, fullback Matt Dufty remains sidelined due to a knee issue, meaning Josh Thewlis may play at fullback, but Cai Taylor-Wray is expected to hold the position again after his stunning try against Castleford Tigers last week.
Via the Warrington Guardian, Sam Burgess said in the pre-match press conference: “While Matt Dufty’s out, Cai will be the full-back, I won’t change that position.
“While Matt Dufty’s not there, Cai will be there – the guy that comes in at full-back I think is a beautiful player.”
