Leigh Leopards take on Huddersfield Giants on Sunday afternoon in Super League and the 21-man squads have now been confirmed.
The Leopards play ten days after their record-breaking 1-0 win over Wigan Warriors with Leigh managing to defeat Wigan in Wigan for the first time in over 40 years.
As for Huddersfield, they’re playing just a week after losing to Warrington Wolves in a performance that saw Luke Robinson’s side make Wire work for it.
With such a disrupted pre-season on account of injury it had been expected that Huddersfield would get steam-rolled but they showed plenty of glimpses in the 20-12 defeat, enough so that that Sunday’s game is teed up nicely.
Leigh entered the game against Wigan with a number of injury concerns, including Josh Charnley and the winger had to leave the field at half-time with head coach Adrian Lam confirming he would be missing for a period of weeks.
Both sides have now named their 21-man squads so we have an idea of who else is missing.
Leigh Leopards and Huddersfield Giants team news
Both Darnell McIntosh and Josh Charnley are missing as expected with fellow long-term injury Ben Nakubuwai also missing.
AJ Towse or Bailey Hodgson are strong candidates to replace Charnley whilst Lam noted that Tesi Niu could move to the wing instead.
One of the major losses for Huddersfield Giants is Danny Richardson with Hull KR recalling their player after an injury was sustained by Tyrone May.
Luke Robinson discussed who could play that role earlier this week with the Giants boss revealing George Flanagan to be the front-runner, with Adam Clune still unavailable.
The other change to the Huddersfield squad sees Harry Rushton drop out after failing a HIA last week meaning that Aidan McGowan and Thomas Deakin join the squad.
