After some major outgoings ahead of next season for Leigh Leopards, head coach Adrian Lam has provided an update on Lachlan Lam’s future.
The half-back is currently contracted to the Leopards until the end of 2025, but Adrian Lam’s comments could suggest that he won’t stay for the whole of that time.
There have been suggestions that sides in NRL, including Sydney Roosters, may be looking to swoop for him for next season.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Verdict, Adrian Lam spoke on his son’s future, casting doubt on where he’ll end up.
He said: “Lachlan is contracted for this year and next.”
“Like all players who come from Australia, they have an opportunity and a dream to go back and play in the NRL and that’s Lachlan’s as well.
“If that opportunity comes up, I won’t stand in Lachlan’s way. I understand how important that is to him, if he decides to go down that path.
“Like all other players who will make that choice when it comes up, we’ll support them and we won’t stand in the way.”

Something that Adrian Lam has consistently referred to over the past few weeks is how the Leopards have contributed to the development of players they’ve brought in, and he reiterated this again today, saying:”We’ve developed some players already and whether we lose players now, this year or the years moving forward, we’ll be okay, we’ll survive.
“Lachlan has been unbelievable for us and created some great memories for us that the fans will never forget.
“If Lachlan decides to go home at the end of this year, it’s the same process: we’ll pat him on the back, say well done and we’ll get someone in and we’ll skill them up to do a similar job.”
Lachlan Lam has been one of the Leopards’ best players since signing from Sydney Roosters ahead of the 2022 season, and in his time there, he’s already won the Challenge Cup as well as the RFL Championship and the Championship Leaders’ Shield.
This comes after his teammate, Tom Amone, was confirmed to be heading to NRL with Canterbury Bulldogs for the 2025 season.
