Leigh Leopards signing shown card as Ireland struggle against Lebanon

It’s been a difficult day so far for Ireland.

They’re not out of the game as of yet though they trail 20-4 at halftime after a Mitchell Moses masterclass for Lebanon boosted by a number of smart one on one strips.

A lovely finish in the corner from Hull KR bound Louis Senior gave Ireland hope after Lebanon ran in three tries and four goals to take a 20-0.

Ireland needed a response and showed the aggression they need to turn the game when, despite it being the last play of the first half, the Irish forced Lebanon into touch.

However they may have gone too far in pushing him into the advertising boards.

This sparked a confrontation where there was plenty of pushing and grabbing and subsequently two yellow cards were shown including to Ireland substitute Rob Mulhern.

He had made an impact off the bench with great tenacity but perhaps pushed it too far when he was shown a yellow card for his role in this altercation.

Not the introduction he would have wanted at his new home ground having joined Leigh Leopards this week only to be binned at Leigh Sports Village today.

Fortunately a Lebanon player joined him in the bin meaning both teams will start the second half with 12 men each as Ireland look to battle back from 20-4 down.
