Leigh Leopards set to make calls on injured stars as line-up predicted to face Warrington Wolves

Leigh Leopards could welcome back as many as five players to their matchday squad this afternoon after the club have done it tough on the injury front.

After missing for a varying number of matches, Tesi Niu, Umyla Hanley, Edwin Ipape, Jack Hughes and AJ Towse will all be in with a chance of making their comeback later today as the club face Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

Lam named the five in his 21-man squad this week, and maths tells us that at least one of those players will be named in the 17, though Leigh fans will be hoping as many of those as possible are back and ready to return to the fray.

With those squad changes in mind, here is how we expect Leigh to turn out this afternoon, as they look to rectify their poor defeat to Warrington last time out.

How Leigh Leopards could line-up against Warrington Wolves

Gareth O’Brien is expected to continue at full-back, with Lam David Armstrong and Bailey Hodgson both still injured. Armstrong has had a minor setback and will be out for a few more weeks whilst Hodgson is expected back by round 10 at the very latest.

Keanan Brand isn’t named so Innes Senior is set to continue on the flank, but with no Will Brough named in the 21 it suggests that at least one of the two returning centres is fit enough to feature this week.

Joe Ofahengaue and Owen Trout made their returns from injury last week and are set to feature again, but the big question comes in the shape of Edwin Ipape.

If Leigh are to win this game, you say that Ipape must be part of the side, however after missing the last six weeks, a late fitness test will determine whether he is fit enough to play.

Should Jack Hughes be ready to return, he could slot in either the centre or the back row, with his versatility proving vital to Lam’s side.

Leigh Leopards predicted XVII: Gareth O’Brien, Innes Senior, Tesi Niu, Jack Hughes, Josh Charnley, Adam Cook, Lachlan Lam, Joe Ofahengaue, Edwin Ipape, Rob Mulhern, Jacob Alick-Wiencke, Owen Trout, Isaac Liu

Bench: Liam Horne, Aaron Pene, Matt Davis, Louis Brogan

Missing out: Umyla Hanley, AJ Towse, Ben McNamara, Ryan Brown
