Leigh Leopards’ recruitment drive has continued with the addition of Andrew Badrock from Swinton Lions. The 23-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Super League outfit and becomes the club’s eighth signing ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Badrock has been a key man for the Lions over the last couple of seasons, making 47 appearances and scoring 13 tries from a number of positions. Starting his time with the Lions at centre, he has since played second-row, full-back and on the wing, with most of his appearances this season coming in the pack.
Unfortunately he couldn’t prevent Swinton from struggling for traction last season and he wasn’t involved last weekend as they lost to Hunslet in a relegation play-off. Badrock is moving on to bigger things this off-season, though, with the former Leigh Miners Rangers man set to join up with Adrian Lam’s Leopards.
“Andrew is a player I’ve been looking at regularly over his two years at Swinton. He’s a good, athletic back rower who can also play centre,” Leigh Leopards’ head of rugby Chris Chester said.
“With losing Kai O’Donnell we need to get strength in depth in the back row position. He has really impressed with his performances for Swinton where he has often been a standout.
“Andrew is a player who I’m looking forward to seeing fit into our system in 2025.”
Badrock becomes the second player to join Leigh from the Championship this week with York Knights winger AJ Towse seeing his deal with the club announced on Wednesday afternoon. Badrock joins a list of off-season signings that also includes Davd Armstrong, Isaac Liu, Tesi Niu, Ben Condon, Brad Martin and Ryan Brown.
