Leigh Leopards’ plan to stop rival fans hijacking mascot name vote as six candidates confirmed

Leigh Leopards are on the cusp of a new era.

Not only have the club pulled off a number of top notch signings such as Zak Hardaker from Leeds Rhinos and Ricky Leutele from the Huddersfield Giants, they have of course changed their name to the Leigh Leopards a move which comes complete with a new badge and a new look.

It will also see them welcome a new mascot to the Leigh Sports Village, one that uses materials and design work from the hit show The Masked Singer.

The club have opened it up for fans to choose the name of the mascot and have narrowed it down to six candidates.

The options are Leo, Lobby, Leyther, LeighO, Lenny and Liford. The mascot will of course be a Leopard.

To vote on which name is used, you must be a member and this is being done to safeguard against rival fans from hijacking the vote.

The club has stirred much debate from rival supporters which has seen owner Derek Beaumont thank them for their interest in his club and helping grow the brand even further through the discussion.
