Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont slams trophy hunters who killed leopard

Derek Beaumont has made a number of big decisions going into the 2023 Super League season.

For instance, he has made 10 huge signings for the new campaign including Leeds Rhinos duo Zak Hardaker and Tom Briscoe as well as Huddersfield Giants star Ricky Leutele as well as five players from Warrington Wolves.

He also resigned Aaron Smith and Tom Nisbet after the duo spent last year on loan with Leigh from Super League Champions St Helens.

He also claimed that Leigh would be a bigger draw than Wigan Warriors in the years to come but undoubtedly his biggest statement / decision was to rebrand Leigh Centurions as the Leigh Leopards in 2023.

Beaumont has been hinting at this for some time sporting leopard print jumpers, released a special one off leopard print jersey in 20222 and finally chose to make the decision at the Leopards’ huge launch.

Beaumont has also been outspoken about the fact the Leopard is his favourite animal so it is no surprise to see him slam trophy hunters who have killed leopards.

On seeing an image of this on twitter, Beaumont said: “Absolutely sickening to see such behaviour! How can one smile in such circumstances!”

He went on to add: “This is infuriating! If this woman needs to do this to feel empowered then forever she will be weak!”

It comes as the Ban Trophy Hunting Twitter account said:

“Most people would find catching a glimpse of such an animal in the wild breath taking, but trophy hunters find taking their life away for fun is the biggest thrill.”

Fix your typos ( print jersey in 20222 and finally). You are a professional. Not being a jerk but come on.
