Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has teased fans that there could be some potential new signings on the way.
The Leopards could be looking to strengthen their squad in a number of areas, following recent departures and injuries.
There is a quote spot available for Adrian Lam after Ben Nakubuwai’s release and the Leigh boss confirmed that they’re on the lookout for one or two players.
Lam confirmed winger Darnell McIntosh the latest injury for the Leopards with a four to eight-week lay-off, having only just returned from a pre-season injury.
Lam discussed where the club is at when it comes to recruiting new players, despite having Robbie Mulhern, Frankie Halton and Josh Charnley due for returns in the next couple of weeks.
Leigh Leopards head coach Lam said: “There are reasons why we made some tough decisions to change our squad right across the board just to give you an understanding of the way that this group has changed with the numbers and different places coming in and that’s got something to do with it as well.
“So that all plays a part but we’re aware of that and we’ve made changes to be able to change the way that that happens.”
Whilst some clubs are struggling to keep under their salary cap right now, Leigh’s finances look to be in a much healthier position than most.
Whilst the Leopards haven’t signed anyone just yet, Lam shared that they’re always on the lookout to add to their squad.
Lam added: “Just as a reminder, we’ve got a fair bit of money in the bank to spend. So nothing has progressed from that but we’re on the pulse every single day.”
The Leopards travel to Hull KR on Sunday afternoon in a top-of-the-table clash. Both sides are the only two unbeaten Super League sides and that record is in the balance heading into the weekend.
